(in Dutch) EU Green Deal for SMEs: from CBAM and the EUDR to ESPR and PPWR, the most important rules and deadlines for your company
Are you also unsure about what sustainability regulations apply to your business, and how to comply with them?
In 2026 new sustainability rules under the EU Green Deal enter their enforcement phase. During our 45 minute webinar we unpack exactly what they mean for businesses in the coming years
What is the European Green Deal?
The European Green Deal, introduced in 2019, is the EU's flagship policy package for making Europe climate neutral by 2050. It covers nine areas:
- Climate
- Energy
- Circular economy
- Biodiversity
- Agriculture
- Transport
- Pollution
- Industry
- Finance.
For businesses, that translates into a growing set of concrete compliance obligations.
What's changing in 2026?
Several significant regulations come into force this year, including:
- EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) - supply chain requirements for commodities linked to deforestation
- Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) - new product design and sustainability standards
- Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) - rules on packaging materials and waste reduction
- Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) - carbon pricing on imported goods
These rules apply across multiple sectors and affect companies regardless of size, including SMEs.
