Volta is a scale-up focusing on the development and rental of sustainable and clean generators powered by solar energy and hydrogen. Volta's generators are a 1-to-1 alternative to the current diesel generators and are used in the construction, festival and event sector. Volta's mission is to make all polluting generators obsolete.
The challenge
Volta faced various challenges, one of them being their endeavors in international business expansion, as they wanted to broaden their market presence, yet faced uncertainty regarding the optimal market selection and strategic approach. Additionally, Volta encountered difficulties in substantiating their carbon emissions statements with empirical data and lacked readiness for ESG reporting.

Mapping markets, uncovering opportunities
Our team conducted detailed market analyses across multiple countries, examining market size, growth potential, key players, competitive landscape, regulatory environments, and sales vs. rental models. We complemented this with lead discovery through interviews with local stakeholders to identify potential launching customers.
From strategy to action
Based on our findings, we developed a tailored international market entry strategy and lead generation plan for Volta Energy. We also provided hands-on support during the implementation phase, helping to operationalize the strategy and engage with prospective clients. The project's strong sustainability profile enabled it to qualify for significant public subsidies.
Carbon accounting with credibility
Using proprietary tools aligned with the GHG Protocol, we conducted Scope 1 carbon accounting to validate Volta’s carbon savings. This included recalculating emissions data and preparing accurate, verifiable figures for public communication and stakeholder engagement.
Building a stronger ESG backbone
We improved Volta's ESG data collection practices and proposed a structured, scalable ESG reporting format. This enhanced their ability to track sustainability performance and ensured alignment with evolving regulatory expectations.
Results
The project included a thorough market analysis that informed both short- and long-term strategic recommendations. An international growth roadmap was created, detailing a market entry strategy, targeted business development, and validated leads. Support for the international launch covered PMO coordination, business development, and subsidy applications. The team also prepared for ESG reporting through carbon accounting, emission statements, and external communication messaging.
