Warehousing sustainability: CSRD compliance for SNA Europe Benelux

Warehousing sustainability: CSRD compliance for SNA Europe Benelux

SNA Europe Benelux, with its warehouse and distribution hub in Helmond, plays a critical role in shipping precision hand tools (notably the Bahco brand) across Europe. Managing over 18,000 product lines, the company supports dealer networks, DIY chains, and specialist businesses from a modern logistics centre. Their reputation for reliability and operational efficiency, paired with strong safety and facility management standards, puts them at the centre of the wider SNA Europe group’s distribution strategy.

Challenge

SNA Europe Benelux faced the challenge of delivering CSRD reporting for their warehousing and inventory operations. The directive introduced detailed and demanding standards, increasing the focus on transparency and how sustainability efforts are communicated. With the deadline approaching and assurance now mandatory, SNA Europe Benelux needed to ensure their reporting was prepared on time and ready for audit.

Navigating New Standards: SNA Europe Benelux's CSRD Journey

We delivered a CSRD compliance project to help SNA Europe Benelux respond to stakeholder expectations and regulatory requirements.

Here's how we did it:

Step 1: Set up the CSRD Team

Together with SNA Europe Benelux, we established a cross-functional team to coordinate reporting activities. The team took ownership of data collection, internal engagement, and the overall reporting process to ensure clarity and accountability from the start.

Step 2:  Double Materiality Analysis

We carried out a double materiality assessment to identify which environmental, social and governance topics mattered most. This covered both how the company affects people and the environment, and how related risks and regulations could impact the business.

Step 3: Gap Analysis

We reviewed existing policies, processes, and data against the ESRS disclosure requirements to identify gaps. This analysis clarified which data points were already available, where additional collection was needed, and which disclosure requirements were not yet fully met.

Step 4: CSRD Reporting Roadmap

Based on the findings, we developed a step-by-step roadmap to help the company close gaps, structure future reporting, and prepare for assurance.

Results

By the end of the project, SNA Europe Benelux had a clear understanding of its material topics, a structured view of its reporting gaps, and a plan to meet CSRD requirements. The ESG team had taken ownership of the process, and the company was better equipped to respond to stakeholder demands with transparent communication. The project established a solid foundation for internal alignment and credible external reporting.
